The theme:
"Udo and I are expecting our first child, Olivia Noelle. When it came
to choosing colors for the nursery, I knew I wanted a lavender room,"
says Laura. "Then I fell in love with Pottery Barn Kids Lavender Flower
Patch bedding, and based everything else in the room on that pattern."
The project:
"Udo and I painted the room ourselves in
French lilac," she adds. "He did the more detailed painting along the
trim and ceiling, and I did the rest. My favorite accessories in the nursery are the wood letters that spell
Olivia. I found a seller on eBay who will custom design letters based
on fabric swatches or photos, so I sent her several photos of the
bedding. Once we finished the room and I started putting her clothes
and toys away, it definitely felt more real. I spend a lot of time
sitting in the glider in Olivia's room. And I often find myself
speaking to her, telling her how excited her daddy and I are to meet
her and just have her in our arms."
The budget:
The total project was about $3,500 ($2,100 on the furniture and the
other $1,400 went toward extras, like accessories, bedding, paint, and
window treatments).
