The theme:
"I wanted the nursery to blend with the rest of the house -- a clean, modern, but kid-friendly room," says Amber. "When we found out it was a boy, I decided to use blue, green, and brown for the colors. But the bedding I found was the real jumping off point for us.
The project:
"We purchased the all-white furniture individually from loads of different stores," Amber says. "As for the walls, one weekend when my husband was away I decided to take advantage of my artistic freedom. I taped out the stripes and went to town painting. After I finished one wall, I decided to carry a green stripe all the way around the room to tie everything together. Since Chris loves baseball and plays catcher for a few local leagues, we received a signed Johnny Bench baseball bat as a gift (he is apparently the 'greatest baseball catcher of all time!'). So I got coat hooks from a crafts store, painted them to match the room, and used them to rest the on the wall. After the baby arrived, we stuck sphere-shaped wall graphics (the blue, green, and brown sphere shapes from Target) to the sloping portion of the walls. Since Henry ended up spending so much time lying on his back, we decided to give him something to look at."
The budget:
About $2,500, including the bedding, furniture, paint, and decor.
