re: Ah Goo Baby Plush Pad Giveaway -- Contest Rules

Labor Day, 2008: Emily, my best friend from high school was in town visiting her parents with her 8 month old. I  have a 5 month old and I really wanted our daughers to meet so we planned a play date, I dressed Kaitlyn in a brand new outfit (I think this is where I went wrong) It was a white shirt with colored stars & purple shorts. I packed up , Kaitlyn and headed to their house. We got there and the girls hit it off right away, each thought the other was the most amazing thing they had ever seen. It was going great, Emily and I started talking about parenting, and the pros and cons of motherhood. I brought up the fact that Kaitlyn hadn't pooped in 6 days and I was getting nervous.  I knew that we had a doctor appointment the next morning and since she wasn't acting funny I decided not to worry about it. Soon the girls started winding down, Emily's father came in and gave his granddaugher a bottle & I sat up on their couch and started breast feeding. In a few minutes the other baby was asleep. The proud grandparents started taking pictures and my friend took her baby to go lay down. A few more minutes passed and I realized that my hand felt wet, and then I realized that my leg felt wet. I picked Kaitlyn up & there was poop everywhere! Everything that hadn't come out in the previous 6 days was right there! It was up over the back of her shorts and down into her butt pocket. It was all the way up her back to her sholder blades. It was all over my legs, my shorts and my hands as well as Emily's parent's couch. I wrapped Kaitlyn in the blanket I was using to cover myself and stood there for a second looking for a safe landing zone. I took her to the kitchen for fear of getting the mess all over the living room rug. As I went to lay her on the floor Emily handed me her changing pad because I didn't have one and my blanket now had as much poo on it as my daugher did. We started to strip her down first and slowly tackle the mess. I think we were half way through her tub of wipes when Emily's younger brother came down the hall. His mom warned him "Don't come in here if you're hungry" He didn't listen, at first he was like "oh, that's kinda gross" but then Emily rolled Kaitlyn over so I could wipe her back. Her brother's reaction was " OH MY GOD!! that's the most disgusting thing I've ever seen! " As he turned to walk away he said "All I wanted was a pop tart...I don't anymore" I felt really bad. Needless to say our visit was cut short. I drove home as fast as I safely could and started soaking all of our clothes! Kaitlyn now owns a yellow shirt with colored stars on it and I don't think we'll be invited to any play dates any time soon, but at least I don't have to worry about her lack of poop anymore.

oh the first time

The first diaper I ever changed was my best friend's little sister. At this point I was far from an expert but I was sure that it could not be that difficult. I got started and laided Lauren down feeling quite confident in myself until I got a whiff of what I was about to encounter. Pulling myself together I started to clean Lauren up while gagging myself, I couldn't believe a little girl could produce such a scent and mess! While I was turning my head away in order to grab some fresh air Lauren rolled over and proceeded to crawl away. When I turned back she was with a huge clod of poop stuck inbetween her butt cheeks and was still crawling away. All I could do was laugh, and it was in that moment Lauren turned around with her bright red hair and gave me a huge smile! She's now 16 and I still won't let her live that moment down.
