The Nest Baby Experts: 10 Worst Baby Names

Baby Nest Editors,

Are you kidding me? Do the editors of  Baby Nest actually believe John Heder is the first person to name his daughter Evan?  Following a long and illustrious history of using “boys” names for girls (Ashley, Taylor, Kelly, and Dana are all historically male names; Kyle, Connor, Cameron, and Riley are now also commonly used as female names), the name Evan was given to:

Evan Elizabeth Unrau http://www.wnba.com/draft2004/prospect_evan_unrau.html in 1982

Evan Rachel Wood http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0939697/ in 1987

And in the 1988 made-for-TV movie “Take My Daughters Please” Kim Delaney’s character was named, you guessed it, Evan. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096214/

In 1991, my husband and I followed suit by naming our baby girl Evan.  Today she is a productive and accomplished 16 year old girl who shares a spot on the all-female high school cheer squad with her teammates, two of whom happen to be named Connor and Taylor.   John Heder's Evan will no doubt also grow up to be a strong and productive member of society regardless of your limited views on her name.
