re: Dr. Ashley Roman

Is it normal while on BCP if your period stops for a day and a half and then picks up again after that? Does that have anything to do with infertility and will I have trouble having kids? Should I go to the doctor? All my paps in the past have been normal.

re: Dr. Ashley Roman

I am not sure how far along I am, but am guessing about 6 weeks. My first appointment is in 2 weeks. I am already starting to show and have switched to wearing maternity pants to work because I don't have anything that fits me anymore. I am not constipated, so that's not it. Could I be farther along than I think or having twins? What do you think?

re: Dr. Ashley Roman

I fell face first in the snow this evening I am 18 weeks and 4 days pregnant.  I do not think I hit hard but am concerned about the baby, what should I do? I think that I hit with my knees first, there is not blood or anything and I have no more pain than the normal growth spurts? What should I do?

re: Dr. Ashley Roman

Hi Dr. Roman.

I am about 5 weeks and have had possitive pregnancy test.  I have my first dr. visit at the end of my 8th week but I am having what I would call light cramping.  Is this normal or cause for concern?

Thanks so much,

Kim

re: Dr. Ashley Roman

This may seem like a silly question because I am aware that everyone is different but when do most people start showing?

Thanks

re: Dr. Ashley Roman

I had a MRI on Jan 4th for a stress fracture in my femur.  I ovulated on Jan 15th and am pregnant now.  Should I be concerned about birth defects?

re: Dr. Ashley Roman

I have been having hip pain while I'm sleeping. I was someone that used to sleep on my stomach so I assume it's from being on my side so much. Is there something I can do to alleviate this pain?

re: Dr. Ashley Roman

Dr. Roman

I went in for an ultrasound because I was experiencing some pain on my right side, when they did the u/s they found a 6cm cist on my right overy.  Is that ok?  Also the determined from the size of the gestational sac I was only about 5.5 weeks along, and we could only see the sack and a yolk sac does that mean I might miscarry?

re: Dr. Ashley Roman

I had a question about exercising while pregnant. Are crunches and sit ups okay for the first trimester? Or should I stop doing them completely as soon as I find out that I'm pregnant?

re: Dr. Ashley Roman

I just went to the Dr. and got my ultrasound results.  She said that the baby has a dilated kidney.  Could you please define this for me?  Can I do anything to change/help the situation?

re: Dr. Ashley Roman Epilepsy and Hyperemesis?

Hi Dr. Roman,  I have Juvenile Myclonic Epilepsy and will be trying to conceive in a few months.  Among the many concerns of epilepsy and pregnancy, there is one that confuses and concerns me.  I read that there is a 'slight but significant' increased chance of epileptic patients suffering from hyperemesis.  I guess I'm wondering why there is an increased chance?  Is there a particular reason or is it purely a correlation?

re: Dr. Ashley Roman

Dear Dr Ashley Roman,

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 5 months now.  I am now going to see a fertility doctor.  I was 5 day late this month as well.  So my day one was march 6, 2008 in stead of march 2, 2008. Before I go and see him I had to do the blood test on day one and a ultra sound.  When I was having the ultra sound done she told me my follicle was measuring 21 (something )and that would normally mean that I would be ovulating soon.  Is it possible that I have been ovulation during my period and that is why I am not getting pregnant?  Is that possible?

re: Dr. Ashley Roman

Dear Dr. Ashley,

My husband and I just decided we're ready to ttc.  I have dysmenoreah and have been on the bcp since the age of 12.  I am now 34.  I'm scared to go off the pill because I know that horrible cramping and vomiting await me.  Are there any new safe and effective ways of curbing the pain?  Is there any supplement or diet that would help?  Also, how long do I need to wait after coming off the pill before we ttc?  Thanks for your advice!

How can I prevent hypertension during pregnancy and/or doctor's visits?

Everytime I seem to go to the doctor they take my blood pressure and tell me it's high, although I've never known what my blood pressure was during the visit.  My dad has the same problem and when he monitors his blood pressure at home, it's in the normal range.  Now that I'm pregnant, I had my first appointment today and my blood pressure was a little high which they were expecting since I am pregnant.  My doctor said if it gets any higher they would need to do more testing.  I know I get anxious before appointments even though I try to stay calm before.  Do you have any suggestions for decreasing my anxiety before appointments so that my blood pressure measurements give a more accurate picture?  If it's not anxiety that is causing my higher blood pressure, how can I keep it under control during my pregnancy?

re: Dr. Ashley Roman

Hi there. I have three questions. :)

First, I was wondering if you could tell me if I should be worried about the fact that I had two drinks (alcoholic) on the night of conception? It seems like a small amount, and that is the only alcohol I have had while pg. Should I be worried about damage to the baby?

Second, can you tell me if it is safe to do crunches/push ups/ etc while at 5 weeks pg? Should I avoid exercise in general, or just be walking for now?

Last, when should I stop sleeping on my stomach and back? I find that I wake up in those positions often... especially on my stomach.

Thank you!!!!
