Q: When should I have my baby shower?

A: We put this one to our Nesties, and it sounds like earlier is better... Here's what you had to say!

“My shower is planned when I will be 35 weeks along, and I would have preferred it much earlier for planning and shopping purposes. We had to pick the date we chose due to everyone going on vacation for Easter and Spring Break. Convenient for everyone but me!” -Hilarycee

“I had my shower at 32 wks. I personally didn't want to wait any longer because I was getting so uncomfortable. You want to be able to enjoy it as well as have the energy to deal with everything afterwards. You will need to wash the clothes, put everything away, and then go shopping for what you still need. Those things take time and energy which we are quickly running out of!” –sannice1979

“I am having my shower at 35 weeks. I think it is a good time, because I still have plenty of time afterwards to buy anything we still need. However this is the latest I would want it. Any later you are almost considered full term and could deliver any minute. I might not have enough time to buy anything I still need.” -alyadams

“I'm having a work shower at 35 weeks and a family shower at 37 weeks. It is later than most, but it's nice to have something to look forward to at this point. Of course we have to have the essentials (car seat, bassinet) on hand in case of early delivery.” -Sarah&JoeinSC

“I'm having my shower the next two weekends!! I'll be 31 and 32 wks. I think it's a good time for me bc I am still able to get around, so I can shop for what I still need and take back what I don't want.” -asned

“A work shower is planned for me tomorrow at nearly 38 weeks and I think this is WAY too late to be having it (I really did try to decline). I am uncomfortable in my own skin right now and I have NO energy come day's end to spend organizing. At this late point in the game, I feel like I could go into labor at any minute and that my thank-you notes will go out really late. I know people will understand, but it's not the way I like to do things!” -MrsFeisty

“My shower is planned for this weekend, when I am 36 (almost 37) weeks. Although it allowed me a good amount of time to add extra items to my registry, I do wish it was just a couple of weeks earlier. At this point I am too big and I tire too easily to prepare and set up all of these items. Although my husband will help, it is overwhelming at this stage. I wish everything was already here and ready for baby. Once all is set up, I still have to purchase, write, and mail thank you cards...all while being able to ‘go’ at anytime.” -tgifhim

“I had my first when i was 28 weeks b/c that was what worked best for my sisters. Honestly, I LOVED having my first -- bigger -- shower early because I've had a lot of time to go through what I got and set it up and get organized. Plus, that was at the beginning of my 3rd trimester when I still had lots of energy. I'm glad I got tons of big stuff at that shower b/c I can't imagine having to set up all the toys and such at 37 weeks. Plus, earlier showers give you more time to search out the good deals and order stuff online that you need but don't get off your registry.” -mamaerin

re: Q: When to Have Shower?

My shower was at week 27.  I live in Europe and my friends and family are in the US, so it had to be planned around my trip to the US.  I am actually happy that it was so early.  It gave me plenty of time to get the things we need, that I didn't get at the shower.

re: Q: When to Have Shower?

I had my first baby shower at 26 weeks---it was the only time we could do it. The next baby shower I will be 36 weeks. I am a bit worried it will be on the late side, but that's the only time that will work.

re: Q: When to Have Shower?

Nobody seemed to care about throwing a shower for me until the wife of my husband's co-worker stepped in. I will be 37 wks, and agree totally with the posts that mention how tired they are and how nice it would be to have time to plan out what you will need after the shower. Is anyone putting where they are registered on the invitations? I didn't because MIL thought it was tacky and DH agreed. Oh well, I'm just grateful that someone did care enough to throw this for me.

re: Q: When to Have Shower?

Any ideas on a Halloween Baby shower? Or is that too freaky? My family is planning a shower in October and I thought a themed shower would be fun. Please give me any ideas anyone might have!!

re: Q: When to Have Shower?

How about a fall themed baby shower? You could decorate with colored leaves and fall colors, and eat pumkin pie and other harvest themed foods.

re: Q: When to Have Shower?

I had one at 28 weeks, which was nice since it was on the earlier side.  For this shower, I registered for most of my nursery decor and linens so I could get the room ready.  My bigger shower will be at 35 weeks which feels a little late, but it is the only time everyone could do it.  I am nervous that I will be too tired and uncomfortable to really enjoy, and have lots of errands, washing, and organizing to do right after.  Hopefully, my mom and DH can help me.  Still it is fun to have something to look forward to (aside from the obvious!)

re: Q: When Should I Have My Shower?

I prefer earlier, but my friend who knows all there is to know about etiquite says no sooner than 2 months from your due date. I'm not sure why though.

re: Q: When Should I Have My Shower?

I had my first at 20 weeks because that's when my sister was visiting from out-of-state.  The only problem with doing it that early was everyone seemed disappointed that I wasn't showing yet.  I had another at 30 weeks and that was fun too.  I wouldn't want to do one much past now (32 weeks) because of how tired I get.

re: Q: When Should I Have My Shower?

I'm having mine next weekend... I'll be 30 weeks... My mom tinks that it's too early. I think (very strongly) that my mom is crazy! I keep telling her that will be perfect, especially since everyone is predicting the baby will be 2 weeks early! Plus, I get tired enough as it is already, I couldn't imagine doing a shower too much after next weekend. Also, I need time to go shopping after I see what all is bought from the registry...

I'm going to e-mail this to my mom...

re: Q: When Should I Have My Shower?

I just had my shower Feb. 23rd and I am 37 weeks pregnant. I was happy because all the pictures I have really show how pregnant I am! My husband and I went shopping yesterday so we have everything we need. It was also a day to see friends and family before I deliver. i enjoyed it, but do what ever makes you feel comfortable.
